4. Do you finish Hardwood flooring?
Absolute Flooring sells & installs pre-finished hardwood floors. However, for your existing hardwood flooring, we do recommend some local contractors and would be happy to pass on their information if you’ll call the showroom during business hours.
5. Do you sell area rugs?
Yes. A number of our manufacturers offer area rugs from style samples that are available for you to borrow. We also have a binder on staff, which enables us to cut-to-order and bind most any carpet into an area rug or runner in almost any size or configuration.
6. What do I need to do to prepare for my installation?
Once you've placed your order, your sales person will provide you with maintenance and warranty information on your product(s) as well as Absolute Flooring's brochure containing our policies and installation preparation information. Feel free to discuss any special circumstances or concerns with your sales person at any time.
7. Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. Absolute Flooring’s installers are industry-trained and certified allowing us to provide an installation warranty outside of manufacturers’ warranties for their products. Contact our office or refer to our brochure for further details.
8. Do you do free estimates?
Estimates are free to our customers. We take a deposit at the time the estimator comes to your home and then credit that amount to your bottom line.
9. How long will it take before my floor is installed?
Installations are always based on product availability. However, average duration between placing your order and installing your flooring is approximately 1 week to 10 days.
10. Should we paint before or after the installation?
We recommend that painting be done prior to your flooring installation. It is important, however, that you arrange with your painter for a touch-up date once the flooring installation is complete, especially in those instances where “roll” products are being installed. Although our installers take every precaution, as the width of carpet/vinyl rolls are often as large as, or larger than, the rooms in which they’ll be installed, it is impossible to guarantee they will not touch a wall or molding.
11. Should my moldings be installed prior to the installation?
A) Vinyl, hardwoods, laminates or other hard-surface materials: Do Not install moldings prior to hard-surface installations. You can arrange for our installers to do this as part of your job (which should be discussed at the time of your measure with the Estimator to ensure that he includes this in your work-up) or you may install them on your own within 72 hours of the completion of your installation.
B) Carpet: Moldings should be installed prior to your carpet installation. We recommend hanging moldings 3/8” from the floor; this will provide a clean, finished edge.
12. Can my new floor be installed over radiant heat?
Although most products today can be installed over radiant heating systems, it is imperative that we are made aware of radiant heating through all phases of your purchase. Because products react differently to temperature variations, product selection, acclimation and warranties may be affected.
13. Should the flooring be installed under our cabinetry?
Although many contractors will recommend that you do install your flooring (kitchens, in particular) from wall to wall, we do not. There are a variety of reasons for this – not to mention the extra square footage you’ll be purchasing. We will discuss this on a site-by-site basis specific to your installation.
14. Can I purchase flooring from you if I intend to install it myself or have my own contractor?
Yes. Absolute Flooring works closely with many of the local contractors and are happy to provide cash & carry services for your flooring needs. We do ask that you or your contractor determine precisely what you need at the time of your order, as there are strict guidelines and restocking fees involved when making product returns. See our “Cash & Carry" brochure for further details.
15. Can I return a box of flooring if I don’t use it?
Because most products are sold within “dye-lots”, it is important to be certain you purchase enough of what you need at the time of your order to ensure that all of your flooring is within the same dye-lot. Just as important, however, is that you do not grossly over order, as manufacturers and distributors will rarely accept returns of less than 5 full cartons within a dye-lot (and can refuse returns of even 5 or more cartons if the dye-lot is sold out or an item has been dropped). There is also a 25% restocking fee assessed on all returns. All returns must be made within 30 days of the original order and in the unopened, original packaging.
16. Will you charge to deliver my order?
There is never an additional charge to deliver products at the time of installation. However, there is a nominal charge added to orders on products that must be delivered prior to installation for “acclimation” or for cash & carry purchases that you wish to have delivered. Deliveries will not only need to be scheduled but will also incur a charge based on product, quantity/weight and location.
17. How do I get stains out of my carpet?
Although virtually all carpets are treated for stain resistancy, it is important to follow manufacturers’ instructions for stain removal. Consult your warranty information or contact the consumer help line for the manufacturer of your carpeting or stain resistancy provider. When spot cleaning, blot with cold water and a light colored cloth (try not to use paper towel as this may set the stain). Contact your sales person if this information is not readily available to you.
18. How do I care for my new floor?
See our brochure for general care instructions. For further or specific information check your warranty brochure, call the manufacturer’s customer care number or contact our showroom during business hours for assistance. Absolute Flooring stocks most manufacturer-recommended cleaning products.
19. Do you repair flooring?
Yes, we do provide repair services. Call our showroom during business hours to discuss the necessary repairs, pricing and scheduling.
20. How far away will you go to do an installation?
Although based in Yorktown Heights, in New York’s Westchester County, Absolute Flooring provides services to the entire tri-state area.
21. Do you do commercial installations?
Yes, we do. Absolute Flooring is the flooring provider for many local (and not-so-local) schools, retailers, professional and corporate businesses, as well as general contractors. Contact our showroom during business hours to discuss your needs or for a list of commercial references.
22. Do you have your own installers?
Our installers have been with us for an average of about 15 years. As such, Absolute Flooring ensures that they are all certified by the various manufacturers whose products we sell and they continue to be educated on a regular basis to keep up with industry standards and product changes.
23. Do I tip the installers?
Most people do tip the installers, as with most service providers. The amount should reflect your satisfaction with their work and is always gratefully appreciated.
